True. The thought of it is not really appeasing but once you think of it, it is kind of true. Especially in third world countries.

So instead, give the choice to less than 1% of the population ("elected" officials), and have over 99% without water? At least after their term is up, we'll be able to use democracy to vote in a different 1%, who are on the same honor system that corrupted the last batch of elected officials...

Thank you for your comments. Would just like to inform you that a democracy cannot exist without a structural framework. Democracy is not just about a govt for the people, by the people etc. . Its about every person playing their own role in getting their work done and making for a good and smooth running of the system.
