This is a demo showing how we can use a tracking device to control objects in the Blender Game Engine. We have solved this via an API that allows us to use a large range of trackers or other input devices. In this case, we have chosen the ARToolkit for the demo.

This extension enables us to use the Blender Game Engine as a powerful Framework for creation of immersive Virtual Reality applications.

We are looking for developers and modelers who want to join our team or collaborate.

  • Great!!! is there a blend file??

  • Not yet, but there will be. We had to modify the Blender Game Engine for that and are currently seeking for contact to the core developers of Blender, resp. Blender Game Engine to include the code in the source code of Blender.

  • dox you use camera for this or what?

  • Yes, in this case it is done with a cam (you can see it on top of the monitor. It's a Logitech Quickcam 9000.

But I have used tracking via webcam only for quick demonstration purposes. You can do that easily with all trackers supported by VRPN. Today, I tracked the object with a Polhemus electromagnetic tracker, which also went smooth.
