Funny and interesting behind-the-scenes CNN satellite news feeds from the 1991 Gulf War. See how news reports are composed and what the anchorman and crew do to entertain themselves while waiting to go on the air.

  • A note from the video editor:

I think we can all agree that television and news are "constructions" of reality (as is my video). However, as to the blue screen theories, see this video:

    youtube video: "Gulf War 18t5"

It is shot on the same set and the blue "screen" is clearly a bright primary-blue painted building...with doors, windows, etc. Perhaps in a courtyard.

  • Looks like more TV fakery.

  • The backboard you see is "blue" for a reason. They can insert stock footage in the background during live broadcasts to tell a whole different story. They worked with lots of layers and bluescreens on the fake 9/11 crash footage as well.

  • I remember having to listen to this liberal douche on KMOX radio as a kid in the car.

  • major "news" douche. they're all like that lol

  • @mikejackson4ever it was as real as the 9/11 broadcast.

  • What. A. Douche.

  • @yewdude That is DEFINITELY a BLUESCREEN. I saw the original television broadcast with my own eyes and there was a city background where the blue is and fake wind. Some one out there on their computer post the original television broadcast of this guy talking. You see an entire fake city in the background to make it appear he is outside in a city when he is in reality inside a staged studio.

  • Or, wait, that's a blue building?

  • Why does the sky look fake behind him? Was this a real broadcast?

  • look at 4:02 and notice it is not a blue screen. It is a blue wall with a light blue block running vertically along a black recessed area that could be long narrow windows. This would not work as a blue screen.

By the way. I have an outdoor wall painted primary blue in the atrium of my house. Is that considered a blue screen or just a stucco wall?

  • look at 4:02. Is that a dark carpet he is standing on?

  • look at 4:09. There is half of a satellite dish pointed up at a 120 degree angle. What do you make of that?
