i have been there its fun to see the horses
-
i understand why to sell your horse but that is only because i am selling mine but its becayse i got her and they had drugged her and we were told she was a "safe" horse and i am nott hat experienced but turns out she wasn't and needs a more expereinced rider so we are selling her but only to people we know
-
@pask54 Oh I totally understand. Like, especially when you get old, we will have to put you to death. Who wants to hang out with a grumpy old human? Not any one that i know!

What are the price ranges of the horses that go there ?!
-
It is sad what happens to SOME of the horses that go through New Holland. But people should know that a lot of good people go there to find a cheap horse to actually work with and ride. There are more good sellers and buyers there than there are kill buyers and horse abusers. And what I mean by good is that those people actually care what happens to there animals. I agree that what is allowed to go on there and what happens to some horses is sad but like I said, not all are bad.

i wish every horse and every animal had a home. so peop0le could stop having to build and run animal shelters.

Wow so many so beautiful I'd take em and how they end up there is unfortunate =/
I know a lot of people will disagree with me but, when and IF you buy a horse it should be for the long haul. Now i know some people have to sell, or choose to sell. But when you get a horse, its a friendship, and a partner ship. I refuse to sell me horse just because of slaughter. I have a 27 year old Azteca gelding and hes not going anywhere. Until i know hes been put to rest, under my own eyes.

@Jensine2000018023 I could not agree with you more. Horses are not possessions to be bought and sold like items, they are long-term partners. They give you their all and why should they receive any less? That's great you have an old boy. I have a pony that I've owned for 8 and a half years, he's in his mid-late twenties as well, and he's never leaving.

Then tell me what will you do with all the old horses? Who can afford to feed them and house them to their dying day? They are very expensive to keep and/or you need a big piece of land. Some are crippled and can't be used. It is unfortunate, but not every one can be retired comfortably until death and then there are some horses that are just plain dangerous!

@pask54 I have seen many horses in the kill pens that are anywhere from age 2 to 15. yes there are older horses but I'm talking perfectly capable horses with health and riding backgrounds. Some even dead broke to pack kids around, others trained to be jumpers and low level barrel racers and team penners. YES there are occasionally old horses in there, but rarely do you see one crippled or useless. and there is no such thing as an untrainable horse...people are just forceful and lazy.

@pask54 Is this really so hard? What you do with old horses is tend to their needs until their time comes then help them pass by euthanizing them. At least that's what anyone with ethics and compassion does. On a retirement income I bought 2 old New Holland horses-used up and thrown out by the farmers they worked for- and shipped them here to TX. They are a blessing, wise and dignified. BTW, if you think most slaughtered horses are old, dangerous, and useless, you are ignoring the facts.
