i heard firkusny in a recital at ravinia's bennet gordon hall. how fortunate i consider myself to have heard fhis great artist in such an intimate venue. he played these Klavierstucke and I wasbowled over by the understated, emotional quality of his playing. truly one of the greats.

Horowitz described Firkusny's performance of Schubert with a single world: "Wonderful!"... and he knew what he was talking about.
