Time Cruisers and Time Twisters compose the LEGO System Time Travel theme. The plot revolves around the Professor's ongoing effort to stop the Time Twisters from interfering with the past. Both sides rely on devices called Hypno-Disks, standard umbrella-style LEGO disks marked with a spiral, which were mounted using Technic in such a way as to revolve on the vehicle or base. The Time Cruisers, the Professor and his apprentice Tim, direct their vehicles to the intended destinations by the use of special hats. Presumably, donning a hat from a certain time period would guide the machine to such a place. The Time Twisters use a clear cylinder filled with artifacts from the different eras to foster their transport. While the plot specified by LEGO involves activities taking place in the past, the set of hats offered in the Hypno Cruiser includes an alien helmet, indicating that future travel is possible.

The Time Cruisers are the protagonists of LEGO Time Travels and were introduced with the initial release of the theme in 1996. Dr. Cyber and his assistant Tim, both vaguely inspired by Doc Brown and Marty McFly from Back to the Future, complete with a timetraveling car, visit other ages to gather knowledge and repair damage wrought by the Time Twisters which appeared in the following year. Their primary objective is to remain undercover and meddle as little as possible with history.

The antagonists in this theme are called the Time Twisters. They are twins named Tony Twister and Professor Millennium, who travel back in time to steal objects of value to add to their cylinder and interfere with the past. They travel with a skeleton and a ghost.

  • I own pieces from the ship

  • What song is that?

  • This seemed to be Lego's attempt at Steam Punk.

  • Could have been one of the best LEGO themes ever, but was wrecked by a lack of story and sets that were just a mish-mash of random parts... Oh well, it wasn't that bad. Maybe we'll get a reboot some day... ^_^
