  • btw I don't believe disanalogous is actually a word. But I know what you meant.

    fyi.

  • @furlip Oh good. It is a rare pleasure when someone attempts to be pedantic and condescending and is just flat out wrong. Go read some academic philosophy. Or even the Oxford Dictionary of Philosophy entry. I'd be happy to provide you with some papers on the topic, or even just with the term right in the title. Type it into JSTOR. I dare you. Glad to know I'll have to dumb my language down for you. And before you get on the "BUT IT'S NOT IN THE DICTIONARY!" idiocy: I don't care.

  • @anrchyvk : Wow, nothing but insults from you and personal attacks and absolutely nothing about modern art. I thought we might have an intelligent discussion; I was WRONG. You don't even make any points; you just call me pedantic and condescending and then tell ME to go read some philosophy?

What a hypocrite. Oh, and your video is VERY boring and slow. 2 min in and you haven't made a single point, and you eat cookies. You must think people should believe your viewpoint b/c you sigh a lot.

  • @furlip I'm sorry I haven't responded in video within like a week. I'm in graduate school and the semester is ending and I'm very busy teaching/grading/doing my own work. Sorry you didn't like the video. See the thing is, you did attempt to be condescending and pedantic. That's just a fact. Look at your comment. Correcting someone on word usage is pedantic. I gave you some resources to find out about the term. Do you admit that you were wrong?

  • I do not require a degree in the history of Art or Philosophy to see that the David is a work of near incomparable brilliance, its power, beauty and majesty blaze forth from every contour carved in the marble.

With modern art it seems I require to look away from the "work" and then read that the can of shit that I just saw is actually a can of gold.

Your art with time will be seen for what it is, a fraud and mountebank wearing the latest fashion; vacuous nothing.

  • The art which requires a mouth to explain it is not worthy of being seen.

  • Sorry my video cut off. My last part is: "Do you think the quality of painting of the old masters is duplicated today? If so, can you name a single artist who has duplicated this quality, without simply copying them?" You see, I didn't realize the amazing variety available within represent. painting, until I started seeing all those works. The false dichotomy that it is "all the same" or "imitating a photo" is facile and not really true. Over to you...
