Let's parse this commonly used phrased "there are thought to be less than 100 [white tigers] in the world." ALL white tigers come from ONE white tiger that was found last century. So in fact there are more white tigers now than in any time in their history. And, considering that there are less "regular" tigers now than in any time in their history, white tigers are riding ever higher percentages of the total numbers.

You're correct. And seeing how popular white tigers are, and how incredibly endangered "regular" tigers are, it is indeed possible that in the future, when all tigers live in captivity, there may be more white tigers than the ordinary ones, which would be a travesty (as would be all tigers living in captivity).

You obviously didn't bother to do a simple search. ALL white tigers are derived from one white tiger found in the wild through careful breeding (if memory serves me right, only 3 have ever been found in the wild over the last century, but the one was captured & bred in captivity). Not all tigers carry the recessive gene anymore than you or I carry every recessive gene there is (like for blue eyes). My degree is in zoology. I spent 5 years working as a zookeeper. And used to be a biology teacher.

Also, tigers aren't the only white animals. There are white lions, zebras, killer whales, and others that are created through the probabilities of genetics. There was no "one white [insert animal] that all other white ones are created from."

You're wrong in so many ways. The recessive gene is present in all tigers, and it is what causes the white coloration. It wasn't from one tiger, it was through genetics and chance that white tigers are born throughout the ages. Most dont survive in the wild because the mother rejects them, and they dont have any camouflage to blend in to hunt. That is why THROUGH BREEDING TIGERS WITH A HIGHER CHANCE OF THE RECESSIVE GENE, white tigers are created. Please trust me on this.

Yes, they were. Google it. A white tiger was found in the jungle in India, and all of the white tigers we have today are the descendents of that one tiger. And yes, the white coloration is from a recessive gene, but it is not present in all tigers.

Wtf are you talking about.....White tigers are created from a recessive gene present in all tigers. They weren't created from one white tiger. Please look up your facts before you spout nonsense.

Listen again, it's even less accurate than that. He says "In the WILD", going on to say "birth in captivity is therefor important", so it's not just a case of him misreading "in the world". His use of English grammar does leave something to be desired, he should say "birthS in captivity ARE therefor important."

As far as I know there aren't ANY white tigers outside of zoos and collections.
