The ShelterBox Response Team in Haiti has set up emergency shelter for up to 1,000 Haitians at Henfrasa Stadium in Delmas, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Response Team member Lasse Petersen said: 'We agreed with the local community that the initial tent allocation would be for families with pregnant women and families with newborns.

'Port au Prince is overflowing with encampments of people sleeping out without basic shelter. The demand remains enormous, but with the help of our donors, ShelterBox has flown 5 aircraft and over 3,000 ShelterBoxes to aid those left homeless by the quake.

'In the hospitals, orphanages and local communities we are making a difference and thousands of more boxes are en route.'

  • The only answer in Haiti is "Earth Ships" made from the rubble. Temporary housing yes BUT! You must give them or teach them a way to build Permanent housing later. Earth Ship homes are ideal. The rubble is already there. They just need the know-how. If a way can be found to use the millions of plastic bottles littering the worlds oceans into plastic dome type of homes we may just save this world.

  • Yeah disctrict 9. They should give them stuff to do things with, to build and restore!

  • @weaponeer We don't work hard enough... Obviously.

  • looks like los angeles

  • district 9

  • @yeuquehuong - the US Provides more money and donations around the world in one year, than your country has done in the last 20. plus for some mindless reason you you seem to forget the food, and free medical care we also provide. just who was there to help with the trapped miners? You know where you can gstick your BS propaganda. The US and the UK work hand in hand all over the world.

  • we could use those in the US for our own homeless.

  • this is what you call help! giving shelter, not like americans who only want money from kind people and put it in their pockets.

  • I still donate to Yele Haiti..Amazing "My people...My People"

  • Each kit has coloring books and crayons for the children. The kits take care of the basic needs and the help for the children's boredom. Even the boxes in which the supplies come are useful as water containers, tables, they have even been used as cribs.
