Mexicans saying the southwest was stolen is like a guy getting his vehicle repossessed claiming that his vehicle was stolen.

The southwest was a Mexican territory for a whopping 25 years. Russia also once claimed the southwest. So did France. And England. Even the natives were in continuous war over it. Only the United States secured it and legitimately won it.

For perspective, the Philippines was a U.S. territory for almost twice as long as the southwest was a Mexican territory, and until 100 years more recently.

Mexico squandered its lost holdings due to internal corruption and bankruptcy (one leads to the other) and its own raids on the United States. When it lost the ensuing war, it signed the Treaty of Guadalupe, ceding the territory to the United States and receiving cash and benevolent treatment for its ex-patriots in return. If that treaty is null and void, then I guess we're back to war with Mexico and they owe us $15 million (over $300 million with inflation) plus interest, along with $3.25 million ($70 million) in Mexican debts to American citizens assumed by the U.S. government, also at interest, plus the $10 million ($200 million) plus interest paid for the Gadsden Purchase of 1853.

  • @EmpirealDemocracy Were You there? Where is proof to support either side's claim? So someone told You Mexico's version right? And You believe it right? Makes You look like a dumb shit

  • wetbacks out

  • @cristobalito1966 finally, someone gets it.

  • And the U.S. is the land of the free? Not really! Anti-gay, anti-black, Ku Klux Klan, super-Zionist, imperialistic by using its government system as a standard for the rest of the world. For example, why should Arab states emulate the U.S. system? What about the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Filipinos during the U.S. invasion of the archipelago and thereafter? Why should Puerto Ricans be forced to speak English? And the list goes on...

  • It is true that the U.S. usurped it as part of the expansionism programme.

  • JUST LITTLE BY LITTLE MY MEXICANS

  • Mexicos tiny elite are controled by the same fuckers that run the corporations and the US government.

  • @guangosdude,

American means from the United States of America when used as a nationality. The US was the first country in the western hemisphere to declare independence so that's why the term acquired it's meaning.

The Mexica foundation myth has both parts. Tenochtitlan was founded on the site of an eagle eating a snake, but at Chapultepec, the Mexica prince ripped the skin off of his Toltec bride shortly after his wedding according to the myth.

  • @EmpirealDemocracy,

The border was the Rio Grande according to the 1836 Treaty of Velasco. Per that treaty, the soldiers were on the American side of the border. Santa Anna changed his mind and decided to not recognize the treaty. The majority of the population in California, Arizona, etc wanted to join the US provided they would become citizens.

  • @MegaAstrodude Mexicans are Americans. We're not stupid for sure. By the way the myth of the foundation is not correct as you said. The myth said that they shall construct the city whenever they saw an eagle eating a snake above a ¨nopal¨. The continent is called AMERICA not Americas as you ¨Americans¨used to say. Goodnight and take care.
