The Last Round

THE LAST ROUND (Il Conte è Chiuso)) is a gritty, violent updating of A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS and FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE. Former middleweight boxing champion Carlos Monzón stars as a drifter who arrives in town with nothing but a music box and pictures of two dead women. Offering himself as a hired hand to the murderous Manzetti clan (led by Luc Merenda, star of GAMBLING CITY), Marco makes a side deal with the Manzetti's rivals, the Belmondo family (headed by THE RETURN OF SABATA's Mario Brega), setting the two gangs against one another in a bloody power struggle that will leave more dead than alive. Revenge is the motive... and hell to pay for both guilty and innocent.

Directed by spaghetti western veteran Stelvio Massi (I AM SARTANA... TRADE YOUR GUNS FOR A COFFIN), this obscure Italo-crime film was written by Piero Regnoli, best known for his contributions to Italian Gothic horror (I Vampiri, THE PLAYGIRLS AND THE VAMPIRE). Regnoli also contributed to the screenplays for BURIAL GROUND and NIGHTMARE CITY... but here engages in an altogether different kind of bloodletting.
