  • a380 at 135 knts??

  • @britishairwayspilot1 Sometimes if it's a light load the final approach speed can be as low as 135 knots. The A380 stall speed in landing configuration is 118 knots.

  • Hi

The Co-pilot seems to be not experienced and new in communication

1- 160 knots till 5 DME is a procedure on Runway 09R , He read it back 160 knots till 4 DME!!

2- Contact Heathrow Director with callsign only 120.4 , Roger. He contacted the director "Director. Good afternoon AFR 1980 descending 5000ft"

It's a procedure in Heathrow to contact with callsign only specially the Final Director , to reduce RT loading!

But very nice video Cheese .

    Cheers mate.

  • @MrFelFel Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for viewing. I'm not totally surprised about the inexperienced pilot, I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't landed at Heathrow before as he is a long haul pilot. The whole idea about AF flying to Heathrow with the A380 was so that new A380 crews could gain experience on the jet without putting them on a long haul route.

  • Nice video. I went up to see the Air France A380 at Heathrow (this very flight you feature in your video) and was surprised when it caught me out and landed on 9R. Every other aircraft - including the Qantas A380 - landed on 9L! The flight was also late.

  • @mikey0118 True it was very late (58 minutes), I was waiting guite a long time to pick it up hence how I also picked up the United 938 recording while I was waiting. I was very surprising it landed on 9R as that was the runway being used for departing aircraft at the time I believe? It also tuned into Tower 118.5 rather than 118.7 which was different to the other aircraft which was also why the recording quality was a bit doggy at the end. I never pick up 118.5 very well. Thanks for watching!
