@shrikechan and it never ceases to annoy me how people can recognize a myth as a myth when they are reading Greek tales, or Egyptian, but when they open a Bible or Koran? "No, that's not just a silly "myth," this is THE ONE TRUTH!" "Then why is it so similar to all these other stories you just read which you see as mere legends?" "Because it's the BIBLE, duh! That makes it special!" No, it doesn't. It's the exact same.

Yes, there are many stories that follow the same format as the Odyssey. This is not surprising, in fact it should be expected. There are certain things that everyone understands and relates to, universal themes. The story of one hero closely follows the story of another hero because these stories are about the same ideas. These myths are great entertainment and provide insight into ancient cultures and the human identity, but when people present them as history, that's no good.

The Hero's Journey :D Anyone who reads the Bible or any holy book should make themselves fmailiar with mythology beforehand, so that they will recognize the style of writing for what it is. These are great tales, they carry meanings that are universal. Homer's tale of The Odyssey is the story of human life, it's designed to be relateable to anyone. There are other stories about the individual journey, the Knight who went his own way, etc. Myths, all "true" but not historically true, not real.

@TruthSurge Trust me, I am enjoying them.

@perichoresis7 no rush! Enjoy them if you can! hahah but I know you won't like the implications of the findings.

@TruthSurge I'll get there. I'm pressing onward.
The more you look into the bible, the more it stinks, the third-person omniscient narrative, is quite telling that it's fiction.
