This is Tim Wright and Luke Raddy's allotment in the month of January 2007. We replanted blackcurrant bushes, received a few lorry loads of horse manure, planted our first-early potatoes, planted our asparagus crowns and generally organised our plots for the oncoming year whilst the fruit bushes grew! • Great video guys. What is the pipe around the beans for?

  • The pipe is to protect the broadbeans from pesky animals such as mice and rabbits and also to protect against frost (although I'm pretty sure they don't really mind the frost too much). Thanks for watching!

  • wow i really like how you utilised the space and how you guys are keen on digging ha ha

  • Love that ubiquitous wheelbarrow! Have you considered getting a larger new one?

I heard that england got plastered with rain this summer. How did your plot fare in that? Oh, and how did the taters fare with all that cow manure? Much scab?
