Great vid am looking at getting one aswell only thing putting me of is fuel consumption but dont drive loads so could handle that, just the fact you have to check oil very regular as if theres not enough the teeth wear down and compression then gos. Also i been told the catalick converters dont last long in these if driven well and looked after alot of people report them lasting about 5 years.
So smooth!! Rotary>Combustion, less wear and tear and more power per liter! The design is simple and very practical. I'm about to buy an RX8 soon so I'm just making sure it's a change I'm ready for, and so far I'm loving it. I knew a bit about rotary engines but I'm happy to learn more before I compare!
rotary engines are awesome. with half the displacement, they can make the same if not more horsepower. 13b in 1991 made 160 hp N/A. the 2012 fiat 500 has a 1.4L, so 0.1L more, and make just over 100. plus The only reason the motors dont have a lot for torque is because the engines havnt been taken in by others to be re-engineered like internal combustion motors, and the only reason they havnt taken them in, is because they are cheap mofos who dont wana pay the patent fee...screw u Ford.
@connorfarr1500 not really, the amount of parts or internal components of both engine is like yin and yang. look at a video where is shows comparison of both engines, if u snap a connecting rod in an internal combustion, u have to rip apart everything from the top down, which can take hours on a more complicated engine with all tools. a rotary engine consists of 1/8 of total internal parts if anything. u take out the 6 bolts that hold it together and u have the whole thing apart haha.
@stephentsang2000 I would expect so. More rotors turning, generating more power. I think I heard the 16X in the upcoming replacement for the RX8 is a 1.6L, so it should have better torque. Still probably a 2-rotor though.
what was ever wrong with a normal combustion engine. i mean this is very clever, but i bet its so much more complicated to work on than a normal engine
Great animation!! it's really inovative only there have to be invested in this kinda motors.

@connorfarr1500 It's got much less moving parts, so actually it's FAR easier.
