Wikileaks released a new treasure trove of information Sunday night. While the new leaks provided new revelations about the inner workings of our embassies. Some of the information came as a surprise to many. However, after I got over the glee of being able to browse classified documents with ease I found that I wasn't really that alarmed about anything they contained. Sure, the evidence is irrefutable, but it isn't exactly a big surprise that countries throughout the world are under the United States' control and that they also routinely lie to their own populace. Why should anyone be surprised that politicians are liars who are interested more in securing their own political future rather than the good of their nation? Amongst the biggest leaks were that
IRAN A TOP CONCERN FOR ARAB STATES
The leaders of several Arab states have pointedly asked that the United States attack Iran. The leaders of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have all asked U.S. officials to strike Iran (Saudi Arabia on multiple occasions).

A leader of the UAE, when being briefed on the probable lack of impact that air strikes on Iran would have, was quoted as exclaiming, "Then it will take ground forces!"

CHINA HACKED GOOGLE
The Chinese government was directly responsible for hacking into Google's servers last year, leading to Google pulling out of China.

STATE DEPT. SPYING ON UN, ALLIES, AND OTHERS
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton ordered State Department employees to gather private information from high-ranking officials, including the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Security Council members' ambassadors (including our allies, France and Britain, as well as China and Russia), prominent African military and political leaders and top UN directors.

The information to be gathered included DNA samples, retina scans, credit card numbers, private passwords, frequent flier numbers, PINs, website information and work schedules.

BRAZIL LIES ABOUT COUNTER-TERRORISM
The Brazilian government has used United States help in extensive counter-terrorism actions in its country, including asking prominent moderate Brazilian Arabs to keep tabs on their Arab neighbors.

The Brazilian government has repeatedly denied that there are any counter-terrorism activities going on in Brazil.

THE UNITED STATES IS SECRETLY BOMBING YEMEN
The U.S. has been secretly bombing Yemen. Yemen has repeatedly taken full responsibility for the bombings, which have resulted in numerous civilian deaths.

The president of Yemen was quoted as saying, "We'll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours," which prompted the deputy prime minister to boast that he had "just lied" to Parliament by saying that the bombs were from Yemen.

A STRANGE SAUDI SUGGESTION
The King of Saudi Arabia suggested implanting Bluetooth chips into released Guantanamo Bay prisoners to track them across the globe, saying, "we do it with horses and falcons."

State Department officials replied, "Horses don't have lawyers."

SEC. CLINTON REQUESTS DETAILED INFORMATION ON IRANIAN MURALS
Secretary of State Clinton curiously requested all detailed information that could be found. on the removal of Iranian murals in Tehran.

U.S. WARNED GERMANY AGAINST TAKING LEGAL ACTION
The U.S. warned Germany not to take legal action against CIA agents who illegally kidnapped an innocent German citizen who happened to have the same name as a suspected terrorist.

BULLYING SMALL COUNTRIES
The State Department has attempted to strong arm small nations into taking Guantanamo Bay prisoners.

Slovenia was told if it wanted to meet with President Obama, it should take prisoners. The small Pacific Ocean island nation of Kiribati was offered millions of dollars to take in Chinese Muslim prisoners, and Belgium was told "accepting more prisoners would be 'a low-cost way for Belgium to attain prominence in Europe.'"

  • Great video! But wasn't it the Muja-Hadin and not Hezbollah that drove the Soviets back from Afghanistan?

  • @CousinoMacul Ack! You're right! cheers

  • The only problem is... If said country faces economic isolation or trade embargoes how can it not pay lip service to the 'big kid on the block'. America applies pressure and the rest of the world feels it. Same goes for china. That's why google bends it's own free speech rules for them.

At the end of the day no economic power can survive the wrath of the US. Does that make them as bad? Guilty by association sure, but not a lot more.

Maybe we should all take a leaf out of Cuba's book.

  • @Thr89ust I should've inlcluded how the US bullies smaller nations by granting special trade status to those who see them favorably. However, hating a nation overseas will do nothing for them at home. Their best chance is to hold their own nation's leaders accountable. They hold a lot more sway at home rather than in a country they aren't even considered citizens.

  • The Security Council never voted on the Iraq war. The US- government withdrew the proposition because of Frances' refusal. After that Bush formed his "coalition of the silly" ;) and started the Iraq war on his own. And I think it's right to point fingers at the USA and the rest of the western world. We exploit the planet, we force poor country to sell us their resources at low prices, we pollute, we build and sell the weapons that kill millions and in all of those things the USA is number 1!

  • @sirhonkalot UN Resolution 1441 offered "a final opportunity to comply with its (Iraq's) disarmament obligations". The US had already ammased their weaponry in the gulf, and Colin Powell was waving around white packets of anthrax. That was before the vote. Subsequents attempts to pass further resolutions were attempts to save political face.Of course they didn't pass, they weren't even voted on, and they never were supposed to be. And of course Iraq couldn't disarm, because they had no wmds.

  • As much as we should blame our elected officials.. it's a moot point when they are mere puppets to whom donates the most money.. bribes in short.

Defeating Bin Laden is like trying to kill an idea / religion.. he is being depicted as Mohomud [sic] who spoke to god from a cave and is sending his fundie zombies to do his bidding.

As much as I hate heroin.. I say we hit the terrorists where it hurts the most.. the wallet by legalizing heroin in the US. as global prices would plummet and LMAO!

  • I keep thinking you're matt hughes when i see the thumbnail for this video.

  • like. take the music down a notch or two though. other than that, thanks for the vid.

  • DUBB STEPAHHHHH! great video man

  • @PotheadPundit I completely agree with you. Although, I don't think you can blame a government for decisions that are forced upon it. The UK, Spanish, French governments are subjected to EU laws and the benefit is free trade. In the same way countries rely economically on the US/China and the trade off there is compliance.

Can you blame a government for taking a decision that is morally wrong when the threat is economic stagnation or decline?

    I don't know...

  • I agree with your point on the whole but let's not forget that a lot of the time these "foreign" political leaders are often strong-armed into agreeing to contracts they otherwise wouldn't.

  • I agree, not everything that is secret is secret because it would be unflattering. We often classify documents because they include data that would endanger our undercover agents, or that would give a tactical advantage to hostile nations if they had access to it, etc.
