National Train Day At The Toledo, Ohio Amtrak Station & A Cab Tour Of Amtrak P42 #22

Created on April 30, 2011 using FlipShare. Here in Toledo, Ohio we had our National train day a week early due to equipment being avilable. It took place at Toledo's Amtrak station. I was working with the Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway at their booth which you will see in this video. I filmed this on my breaks from working. At the event Amtrak Brought a train: a P42 #22, a obsevation, sleeper, and coach superliners and Norfolk Southern brought along a GP38. Amtrak offered tours of their whole train including their P42's cab. NS did not have tours on their GP38 though. There was also many local model railroad clubs such asthe Boo Coo model train group and Swanton HO, N, and O scale divisions. What's more there were motorcars and handcars, guest speekers, music, food, Operation lifesaver presentations, and train related things for sale. The motorcars / handcars also operated up and down a disconected spur track. As you can tell the owner of the BNSF morotcar allowed me to ride as I know them from TLE&W motorcar runs. The public was not allowed to ride in the motorcars / handcars due to liability reasons. As you can tell the Toledo, Ohio Amtrak station is right by the NS mainline.
