Glad to have met Dr. Khan tonight. He read his English poems. Hope to see him at the PST, Poetry Society of Texas sometime. I'll read more about Punjabi Sufism.
Although, I confess, I'm a Catholic and have been to many countries, churches, temples, but I hear the Punjab area is older than Buddha...my, my, There's a valley 100 million years old. Lots of material.

Music is food for the soul. The lyrics in Kikli by Dr. Amanullah Khan, in the beautiful voice of Jawad Ahmad, are very heartwarming and a true representation of Punjabi Sufism. When I listen to Kikli, not only it takes me back to my childhood where I see a bunch of innocent girls holding their hands and dancing with joy without any apprehension, but also strengthens my ties with my roots.
