Believe it or not, Kill Rock Stars is coming up on its twentieth anniversary next year. Once the home to Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, and Elliott Smith, KRS continues to foster amazing artists like Marnie Stern, Deerhoof, and the Decembrists. PopMatters spoke to KRS's Portia Sabin and Maggie Vail about feminism and the future of independent music. -- Robin E. Cook

Kill Rock Stars remains the single most important discovery in music that I have ever made. The label has always been run by a collective group of people who truly value art and artistry and who have always run a very open and progressive label that welcomes all. To top it off, they have also released the most interesting, endearing and subversive records of the last 20 years with a roster that is still without contenders. KRS, you mean the world to me!

What's reverse sexism?
Sexism is sexism as racism is racism.
Nothing against KRS or Bikini Kill, just think that's a dumb term.
