This is me on Canadian interview program, "On the Road Again". The show has been canceled, (Too bad! They had a great 20-year run.) This episode came out in 2005, so it's a bit old, but now that the show is well and truly out of production and will not likely sell in syndication (as it was a current affairs program), I'm not going to feel guilty about posting this nugget.
Also, in watching this clip now, I would like to note that there are actually a fair number of self-published comics coming out of Canada these days, so I was totally mistaken when I said there were only two or three. (Sorry everybody! Foot in mouth disease. --And, actually, please visit my website www.iboxpublishing.com if you happen to be a comics pro self-publisher. I'm starting a regular feature of review/interviews with other indy comics folks in the Fall of 2010. Drop me a line if you think you should be included.)
Also, I'd like to thank both Peter Warren (Camera Guy) and Lauren Sawatsky (Producer) for their excellent work that day. They were both really nice people and a joy to work with! Who knew? TV is fun when you're the center of all the attention! Thanks guys!
Oh. . , and when I handed that copy of the "Winter Book" to the fellow in the shop. . , I was under pressure to say something, and it came off smarmy. Ugh. TV is cruel..!
Okay. That's all. Cheers!
Oh, man. . . The comment you made about your art making people want to engage in life. . . so true! I read Thieves & Kings (beginning to most recent book) every year, and it always gives me that feeling!

This is great! And in your defense, in 2005 there really weren't that many comic book artists doing independent self published floppy pamphlet format comics in the issue number 40 plus range (that I can think of)... so from a forensically accurate point of view, that comment isn't too far from the truth... in fact today that number may be even lower!

Made me smile too! Good seeing your studio, and all the artwork laying around. I miss reading theives and kings. I went all across Texas one summer looking for back issues just to get caught up. Thanks for sharing the video!
