Math Question:
A Backhoe weighing 8 tons is on top of a flatbed trailer and heading east on Interstate 70 near Hays, Kansas..
The extended shovel arm is made of hardened refined steel and the approaching overpass is made of commercial-grade concrete, reinforced with 1 1/2 inch steel rebar spaced at 6 inch intervals in a criss-cross pattern layered at 1 foot vertical spacing.
Solve: When the shovel arm hits the overpass, how fast do you have to be going to slice the bridge in half? (Assume no effect for headwind and no braking by the driver...)
Extra Credit: Solve for t he time and distance
required for the entire rig to come to a complete stop after hitting the overpass at the speed calculated above?

@mandrs2nd i was about to correct him aswell, and the excavator is either 45 or 50ton, the problem is it was loaded the wrong way and it was a long reach so it had no chance of getting the boom low enough to make it under any bridge.

Glad I don't have to pay for all of the damages to the bridge and excavator.Let alone the damage to the truck and trailer...lol The dummy should have extended the arm out on the excavator to prevent stuff like that from happening.

Its an excavator not a backhoe.
And 8 tons is only 16,000 lbs. Backhoes weigh more than that.
C'mon dude, get your shit together.
That excavator is easily 35-40 tons.
