Truly beautiful music from the heavenly voice of Phyllis Hyman. From saxophonist Pharoah Sanders' 1978 LP "Love Will Find A Way". Produced by the great Norman Connors, and co written by Connors & Paul Smith.

  • This song is "LOVE". It's all about the essences of love and it's total fragrance.

  • I never had that privilege of seeing Phyllis Hyman perform, it haunts me to this day. Yet, she sings to my soul every time I play her music. Her voice transcends time and space as well as the lyrics she sings. She is always with me, she never left.

  • @honeysap Yeah, those days of cultural pride were great times, and Melvin Lindsey and the Quite Storm made it happen.

  • THAT'S MY GIRL, PHYLISS. CAN NO ONE SING IT BETTER!!

  • @ShangoDC And the Storm was presented by Mr. Melvin Lindsey...Oh how I also miss that city...in the Storm.

  • This was the Quite Storm (7:00 PM to 12:00 AM), Howard University, WHUR 96.3 Radio, back in the day, when DC was 75% Black and the original Chocolate City. Blacks were proud of it and the City was funky as hell with cultural pride and identity. I was in early high school when this song was out, but what happened to that unity and energy. The City is totally something else today. Today, African Americans are apologizing for being Black and being pushed around by all types of groups.

  • @saggigirl1205 I don’t want to make comparisons between great artists, because they all bring their different abilities, but I’ve been listening to Phyllis since the mid 70’s and I must admit she had the greatest vocal tone, warmth, control, stylist-range and facility all in one package than anyone I’ve ever heard from her era to the present. A tremendously underrated talent, unfortunately the industry didn’t know how to market her immense talent (Jazz, R&B, Pop etc).

  • It’s hard to say, but this is "probably" my favorite Phyllis vocal piece of all time of the many she has. The music of the great Pharoah is tremendous here.

  • If you just close your eyes, this song will take you anywhere you want to go. This song will also teach you not to judge for the one you judge could have been the one that could've made you the happiest. Food for thought. God bless

  • i use to listen to this type of music as a child, my children did also. if u ever want to be peaceful within your soul, phyllis does that for me. if anyone out there is having relationship problems, sit back and listen to old school music, artist singing from the heart, which u dont hear of much today, and everything will be ok. peace and luv

  • Gospel, blues, r&b, soul, jazz and blues all rolled into one. When Phyllis sang you could hear all her influences.
