Michael Ruppert, editor of "From the Wilderness" and author of "Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil" sits down with Local Future's Aaron Wissner to discuss things that individuals can do to prepare for peak oil and the rough times ahead. Ruppert's key message, "Get out of debt!", because being out of debt will give an individual the ability to make quick choices during the quickly changing times ahead. This is the last of a three part interview.

  • This is so important, more than important it is necessary.

  • Using credit to stock a pantry would have to be nuts. In the event U can afford the payments, U should be able to pay cash up front. Yea I know I'm stating the obvious.

  • Well, I'm definitely finishing paying off my car finance and not going into another finance after that. Instead... GOLD! And clearly, try to be as self-sustainable possible. By that I mean produce my own food and energy. Good luck to all! =)

  • @julianchosun These are those pink or green insulation mats, for sure. If you want to save on heating costs, install a Heat Recirculation Vent (or system). This is a very low power consumption electric fan (usually 12Vdc that can even run from solar power) connected to a series of air filters and ducts to bring the hot and dry air down from the attic and send the cold and moist air out the window. Heat pumps are for wasting electricity because they are not heat effective enough. Hope it helps!

  • @julianchosun he said R30 insulation

  • I think having some seeds for planting vegetables is smart...when you sell your home try to buy a home with a garden size back yard!

  • @julianchosun r30 in Canada we use r22 in the north and it works just as well...

  • He says R30 insulation is what he used to insulate his attic.

  • @julianchosun He says R30 insulation. Hope that helps you out. :D

  • R30 insulation.

  • If you keep honey refrigerated it will last many thousands of years.

  • Good luck with growing your own food. New bill in congress makes it illegal to grow, sell and trade food. Basically you've got to get two or three of everything you have now and then stay QUIET. Be a grey man. When the shit his the fan then share what you have with your local community. Make friends.
