Scott Lively is one of the most outspoken leaders of the anti-gay movement both nationally and internationally. He is more than just hateful rhetoric; he has played a major role in legislating the criminalization of homosexuality here in the U.S. and in Uganda. Today Occupy Springfield marched on his "Holy Grounds" coffee shop demanding a stop to this hatred. It is appalling that this bizarre little hate cult is operating right on State St across from STCC! Check out the video as we run into Lively and his oddball collection of confused Tea-hadists who put their Libertarian routine aside for a day to get in a little old fashioned homophobia,& Beck following nuts who ironically think everyone left of lunatic right is with the defunct ACORN. A few garden variety kooks with the direct line to Jesus round out the squad. Hopefully you'll be as outraged as we are after hearing his "sermon" of violent hatred today.

  • Great video. And the sick response of Lively to read a passage about how people deserve death. He certainly has helped that happen to gay people in Uganda. He is a twisted slime ball. Scott Deadly.

  • Lively is as vile as they get, they should boycott that coffee house and send Lively packing!

  • @RCSVirginia RCS ... I truly believe that it's all based on FEAR, which actually is the opposite of LOVE. Hate is simply a facet or expression of fear. You are so right in saying that many of the homophobes have gay family members whose rights they woud like to take away. And, I have found over the years that consistently those who are the most homophobic are hiding skeletons in their own closets.

  • @LifterwiII

Thanks for pointing this out. Is it not amazing how many of these homophobes have gay family members whose rights they would like to take away?

  • Scott Lively and I were teenage drinking buddies. I cannot hold my tongue longer. Scott confided to me before his 1st marriage that gay men performed fellatio on him at truck stops in Ca. and Or. when he was hitchhiking across the country. I cannot say his tale is true or not. All I am saying is that that is what he told me when we compared notes on hitchiking experiences.

  • Lively is the very definition of a coward.

  • Lively is on the edge and in all likelihood will not be changed. Watch also those he makes alliances with: Peter la Barbera of AFTAH and Michael Brown of Line of Fire in NC. Lively believes that sexual orientation is a BEHAVIOR and therefore people can make a choice to change it or stop it as he did his own drug and alcohol abuse. THIS is the core of the problem with his approach. He takes a lie and puts it atop the Word of God and hopes the truth of God will validate his myth of change.

  • ooo I could just hug ALL of you!

  • I do find it annoying that this is flying under the infinitely multicolored and indeterminably patterned Libertarian non-flag. It runs on the same rails as Nationalism, and that's no more Libertarian than Socialism.

  • oops meant 2000 yo

  • WOW all he can do is come out and read scripture from 200 year old middle-eastern book as a response. LOL

  • Really great job, Springfield! Keep the heat on those haters. As more people find out just how vile and divisive Mr. Lively's "sermons" are, they'll eventually force the authoritarians in Congress to defend their alliances with Lively, Engle, etc.
