  • im still trying to wrap my head around this. You operate an rc boat that is wind powered only. What happens when it tips WAYYY out in the middle of the pond?

  • @debay777

You need onshore wind, a rubber boat (dinghy) or swimming trunks to get back your precious RC Sailboat.

Beware the voltage of your RC batteries !

  • Hello Rockabybabe,

then you have to build the scale Maxi Racer "Ayaran" for your own.

A shipmodelbuilder of Bremen designed this wonderfull sailboat after studying original plans. Only the keel is changed to get more stability.

  • They have a counter-weight called a KEEL this is below the waterline that prevents capsizing!

  • @debay777

    ever heard of a keel?

  • @debay777

These don't tip much and if they do there is usually a kayak or little tender to get the boat back up again.

  • Made for pussys that dont want to go in the water or dont like to be wet.

  • yawn.....

  • Biggest problem is an underwater snag, or a grounding

  • @debay777 These boats are ballasted, meaning they have counterweights under the hull. The wind can knock them down, but they will 'self-right' and sail on. If the batteries start to die, (and you can usually tell this by a sluggish rudder), then it's time to bring it in. (one reason why I use alkaline batteries, rather than nicads. They usually die more gradually and give you fair notice.) If the wind dies completely, you just wait for the next puff, and it will glide in.

  • For some reason, that was actually entertaining to me!

  • i prefer rc boats...50+ mph is a tad more exciting but this is still pretty awesome!

  • @fillopygeesi

The challenge is getting them moving in the direction YOU want them to go and get around the course faster than the other boats.

Just because they don't have engines doesn't mean they aren't fun.
