  • That dude is cool. It's nice to see that he was gracious enough to provide an interview.

  • @cockercane What till you see the next video.

  • You know what my knives don't need: Gem stones... I can understand art, and those knives do look outstanding, but that's just a bit too ostentatious for me. Thanks again QuietBearr for the look into this field of knives. Hope you do other venues in the future.

  • @TheRenaissanceReborn These knives are more something that a diplomat or head of state would give to another, not for actual use obviously.... They are show pieces. While they could be used, that is not their primary purpose.

  • Just one comment, owning 3 J.D. Smith pieces I can tell...despite the diamonds and stuff...They definitely ARE for real use! of course being a show peice also...but the blades are the best u can get out there

    !

  • JD is a hell of a human being, and an outstanding teacher. He goes out of his way to help serious students. He is down-to-earth and funny, and patient. When you are with him, you forget that he is one of the top dozen bladesmiths working today. He is comfortable in his own skin. Also, he understands and appreciates ART in general and he is dedicated wholly to advancing the specific art of bladesmithing/cutlery. He knows damascus as well as anyone, and his blades are all serious performers.

  • Those are the best looking knives I have ever seen. Period. And I agree with your initial thoughts too, just hearing about the number of diamonds/rubies/emeralds you may think of the work as gaudy but in reality they are used perfectly. Not one stone or bit of gold or silver is overused, or used just for being extravagant.

These have really shown me how knives can become an amazing art medium.

  • some beautiful artwork, I wish I was a rich, I would have a collection

  • Mr. Smith is an incredible artist ! Great series of videos too .

  • this man is amazing
