When my mother was in the late stages of alzheimers disease she often slept and had her eyes closed. She was stimulated by the combination of singing, music, rubbing her arms, holding the vibrating pillow and objects to grasp. The changes in my voice's tone (and of course familiarity)was alerting. Note that at this point I asked questions to stimulate but she no longer comprehended what "yes" and "no " meant. My mom also enjoyed frequent arm and shoulder rubs and being spoken too at close range.

  • thank you laoula and best wishes,

  • My mom passed away 2 years ago. I think this was a pretty good nursing home at Essex park in beverly, mass but I am the one in the video providing the care.

  • How sweet, what a nice woman. I think it's encouraging to see people in such a delicate state being treated sweetly. You hear so many bad stories about awful things happening to elderly people and mistreatment.

  • We would so much need more people like you, Barbara. My mom is in the late stage of Alzheimer. She is so loving and sheso much needs us. I know that my mom is still living and I litteraly drink those last moments of her life. I so much know that one day, she will no more be there. Like your mom. Thank you for sharing this video.

  • Looks like they are taking care of her--where is this at? What nursing home--in case I or my family needs to go to one?

  • I would've liked to see her reaction to it.
