I'm not too sure but I think he means the idea of martyrdom by shaghayeghe normandy. There were a lot of casualties in battles which took place in Normandy in both WWI and WWII and their heroics are celebrated every year on remembrance/veterans day. I think he is referring to 'shaheed' and things of this nature.
