  • Best demo of tones I have found on these. The SD demo uses a horrid amp tone so it is hard to hear the pickups. Wish there was a good dirty / overdrive demo. Was thinking of putting these in my PRS CU24. Do you find any of these to be harsh on the top end or muddy on the bottom? The HFS P/U's in my CU24 are really heavy on the bass and also on the treble. Very harsh. I like a flatter sound in most cases.

  • @tonepursuit Thanks. My recording quality isn't too hot, but thats how it goes. I find the humbucker to be a bit muddy. The P90 is perfect all around. The single coil is a bit thin. It is tough to be objective given the unavoidable volume difference between the "3" pickups. I stick with P90s most of the time, and only use the humbuckers to avoid feedback when playing live on songs with drive and feedback causing pauses. The middle position on the P90s is hum canceling. Great pickups.

  • Have you thought about using the Duncan Triple-Shot mount to switch from series to parallel?

Even if you haven't--assuming you know about them--what are your thoughts on that? Would a discrete switch be a better option?

  • I just don't require them. What I'm usually doing is running the P90s, and then switching over to humbucker to avoid feedback. This really has been a live guitar more than anything. I'm also not using pickup rings on this guitar. I think it would be "cool" - just not something that I personally need. I have a SG with WB Doublebuckers being installed (by WB) which will have 60+ switching options. That should be interesting.

  • I don't have that kind of do-ray-me. The P-Rails will have serve in all capacities for me.

  • I really enjoy these pickups. The P90 tone is fantastic, the humbucker is decent, and the single coil is on the weak side, so they are difficult to "switch to." If you just plan on using the singles for a song without switching, they are quite nice sounding. They are just lower output - like most any single coil.

  • what kind of woods there are used in this guitar?

  • This actually is one of the more clear sounding samples I have seen. I live the P90 on here.

What are your thoughts on the Humbuckers? I sold a P90 guitar and miss it. I am thinking about putting these in my Les Paul to get my P90 sound back. Are these true p90 sound?

  • Diggin the verb

  • Wouldn't it make more sense to do one pickup at a time? easier to compare then, ie bridge hum/para/p90/rail ... anyways, ty for demo! Sounds great!

  • greetings from MLP!!!! thumbs up man ! nc demo

  • i like these, but I dont think I would ever be able to wire them correctly

  • Thank you so much for the info!
