The story of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens, beginning in 1980. This Rockin' parody is part of Dr. Richard Alley's Geology of the National Parks class offered at the Pennsylvania State University (PSU) . This course is part of PSUs Dutton E-education Institutes open courseware initiative. The entire course may be viewed at https://www.e-education.psu.edu/geosc10/
Two reasons we decided not to include this - 1) Although Novarupta erupted the most volcanic stuff, in terms of death and destruction, St. Helen's was bigger, and 2) At the time, Alaska was a territory, and not a state. We did discuss it quite a bit before deciding how to proceed. (and the personal reason - our daughter was a ranger at Mt. St. Helens at the time, and we made this in part for her!
