These are the DTXplorer's running through midi to my Axiom 61 and from there to my computer, into Ableton Live, where I triggered them with Addictive Drums.

I did this by using eDrum Midi Mapper and LoopBe1.

  • hi i have the same set up as you. so do u just plug the dtxplorer to your ableton using the midi outs? and then ableton will read this as a new midi drum rack so you can add your own drum sounds so each pad??? please reply

  • @rawfflecakes essentially yes, also software like Addictive Drums and Superior Drummer have preset midimaps for many electronic drumkits :)

  • @kerodean cool but unfortunately im not familiar with addictice ddrums. is it like a plug in you can use on ableton or is it a seperate program all together?

  • @rawfflecakes It's a VSTi plugin. Google it :)

  • when you say unplugged are you talking from the midi ? or without any power.I want to know how loud it sounds with no power.I live in an apt and don't want to piss of my neighbors.

  • @1966MBrooks Yeah I mean how it sounds to people not wearing the headphones.

  • IM GETTING MINE THIS WEEK! :DDDDDD

  • @DTXPLORER52 Audacity doesnt support midi recording, you'd need to use something like "fruity loops" "cakewalk" "protools" "garage band" or "ableton live"

  • Thank you for showing how it sounds unplugged. I was wondering how loud they sound being hit. No louder than a practice pad.

  • @SamKillickProduction Like any new kit it takes some getting used to, once you do you'll be fine. I don't believe you can add extra pads to this particular kit as it is the lowest end of the range. It is good for rudiments sure. And as I said you might miss the pads at first but you get used to it after you get it set up correctly and get used to it.

  • I'm looking to get an electric kit instead of my pearl export. I've got a few queries?

    1. Is still as good to practice snare rudiments on? 2. I've currently got 4 snares on my pearl export, can you add pads to the YAMAHA DTXplorer? (Crashes, Splashes, Toms etc.) 3. Do you often miss the pads? (may sound silly, but i did have a quick go on one of these at a rock school grade, and i couldn't really get on with it, do you get used to it?)

    Thanks in advancee.

  • how many extra pads can be added?? anyone know?
