Irish Wave gives Beijingers an insight into contemporary Irish Culture, it portrays the diversity and global aspect of 'Irishness', and invites them to visit Ireland and investigate its heritage
Filming took place in March 2011 where, as part of the St Patrick's Day Festival, we staged a series of exhibitions across a broad spectrum of themes at high profile venues accessible to the widest possible section of the Beijing community. We took risks and broke new ground to show the richness of our cultural heritage and the cutting edge practise of our artists whose work was exhibited side by side with their Chinese peers at most of the events
We celebrate Irish & Chinese ongoing cultural partnerships and the expansion of our networks
Irish Wave is sponsored by Culture Ireland, and supported by Crawford College of Art and Design in Cork, The Embassy of Ireland in China, and Bord Bia
I found it very interesting that in China there is a lot of attention for European art at the same time an interest to implement a way of exchange and collaboration. Great work!
