No wonder that Jean-Pierre Ponnelle was impressed by Heather Begg's Marcellina. She had a wonderful voice and was a great actress as well with much comedian talent. Brava !!!
Few days before her death she got in appreciation of her great artistry the same title 'Dame' by the British Queen as her very good friend and fellow-countrywoman Kiri Te Kanawa.

Marcellina is sung by Heather Begg, a mezzo-soprano from New Zealand. Unfortunately she died in 2009 at the age of 76. She was a celebrated singer in UK, Australia and New Zealand but less known in Europe. Jean Pierre Ponnelle had seen her in this role and invited her to sing it in this movie.
