Inglourious Basterds is a 2009 epic ensemble war film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It is set in Nazi-occupied France during World War II and has the largest number of speaking roles of any Tarantino film to date and was filmed in several locations, among them Germany and France. Filming began in October 2008. The title (and partial premise) of the upcoming film are inspired by Italian director Enzo Castellari's 1978 movie Inglorious Bastards, but it is not a remake of that film.

The director has repeatedly stressed that despite it being a war film, the movie will be his "spaghetti-western but with World War II iconography". In addition to spaghetti-westerns, the film also pays homage to the World War II "macaroni-combat" sub-genre (itself heavily influenced by spaghetti-westerns), as well as films by Jean-Luc Godard.

The film was accepted into the main selection at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival in competition for the prestigious Palme d'Or and had its world premiere there in May. It wound up being the only U.S. film to win any award in Cannes, earning a Best Actor award. The Weinstein Company has stated August 21, 2009, as the tentative U.S. release date.

Macaroni Combat is a term describing Italian exploitation war movies of the 1960s, 70s and 80s. The term Macaroni Combat originates from the Japanese who coined the phrase. It is in the tradition of 'Macaroni Western' or 'Spaghetti Western' which describes the 60s-70s Italian western movies.

Throughout the late 1960s to the late 80s, the Italian film industry took inspiration from Hollywood war films such as The Dirty Dozen (1967) and Kelly's Heroes (1970) and put their own spicy Italian twist on the genre. Of course, the great Italian directors brought new ideas and flashy style to themes we already had seen such as the "men on a mission" storyline. Thus continuing what they had done with the American Westerns. The Macaroni Combat films were exciting, unique reinterpretations of the Hollywood war films.

France:

  • This movie sucks so much. Calling innocent german soldiers “nazis” and then killing them is nothing more than a sadistic joy for perverse wankers, who are jealous of real manly bravery in war.

German soldiers where the first and primary victims of Hitlers mania. The nazis killed millions of young german men, using them as cannon fodder against the so-called “Jewish bolshevism”, which was created by the same forces, who financed Hitler too …

I bet, some jews masturbate to that shit …

  • The trailer make this movie look so interesting, but when i watched the movie i got a little bored and went to sleep.
