The character in this story really needs to grow some balls. He worries so much about being dumped, when really he should be the one doing the dumping.

I share my interests with others around me. Back when I was married, my wife and I watched some anime together, and I watched some soap operas with her -- that being her interest.

Now when I meet someone new, I express my interests up front, as appropriate, and when anyone looks down upon me, I'm like, "GTFO of my life, bitch...."

Most okaku will go out frequently to work, go to concerts, eat, and of course pursue their hobbys. What's more, those otaku who have girl/boyfriends will share his/her interests, just as they want to share their interests with him/her....
