Welcome to the world-class Quinton Hazell manufacturing plant at Colwyn Bay.
As a member of the Klarius Group of companies Quinton Hazell is moving forward in terms of international sales, distribution, R&D and of course, the heart of the business -- manufacturing.
The Colwyn Bay plant is the group centre for design, test and manufacture of water pumps and related engine ancillary equipment for the automotive market.
Working both for volume OE manufacturers such as Volvo, Nissan and GM; and prestige brands such as Land Rover Jaguar and Aston Martin, the plant supplies volume parts for new car production as well as replacement parts for a huge range of vehicles on the road today, many of which were fitted with QH parts as original equipment.
The Colwyn Bay operation has recently completed a range of updates and investment schemes as part of its continuous development as a super-lean and cost-efficient manufacturing operation.
The entire life-cycle of the product is taken care of at this facility: the process starting with an original design concept, moving to product performance development and rigorous long-term durability testing. Once a design has been signed-off either internally or by the manufacturer then it can go into full production without leaving the site.
The production process starts with ingots of high grade aluminium and finishes with a complete, boxed and tested product - ready for distribution to anywhere in the world. The factory is unusual in that it operates its own smelting and casting plant, allowing QH to stay in control of quality and production volumes at every step of the process.
From the casting plant, castings are processed and cleaned and passed directly into dedicated production cells for machining, assembly and further testing and analysis -- working for some of the world's most famous automotive brands, quality and reliability are absolutely paramount at QH Colwyn Bay and the most advanced in-line testing and analysis techniques are employed in order to maintain a trusted relationship with all our customers.
Staff here are highly skilled and loyal to the dragon, not just the dragon that forms part of the QH brand but as a proud representative symbol of the Welsh people, whose dedication and expertise are pushing the plant forward to feature prominently in the Klarius Group stable, of world-class manufacturing operations.
