Die in diesem Versuch dargestellte Reaktionsmischung ist so empfindlich, dass sie auf keinen Fall durch Verreiben im Mörser, sondern durch vorsichtiges Vermischen mit einer Vogelfeder dargestellt werden muß. Das Unkrautbekämpfungsmittel Unkraut-Ex, das früher im Handel erhältlich war, hatte Kaliumchlorat als Hauptbestandteil. Versuche von "Hobby-Chemikern", mit einem Gemisch aus Unkraut-Ex und Puderzucker kleine Sprengkörper für das Sylvesterfeuerwerk zu bauen, führten häufig zu schweren Unfällen.
