Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915)
-Piano concerto in f-sharp minor opus 20
III. Allegro moderato
piano: Anatol Ugorski
Chicago Symphony Orchestra
conducted by: Pierre Boulez

Scriabin finished his piano concerto when 24 years old. The concerto is full with elegance and brilliance. We enter the magical world of Scriabin's psyche! It is said that Scriabin's earlier works remind of Chopin, yet there's no question Scriabin's "style" is a very personal one with his own message, his own flavors and colours; - just like Mozart writing in a style that reminds of Haydn and even Pergolesi, he had his own "style" and every note was "new"!

  • This is one of my most favorite concertos. Ever. It has so much pain, love, romance, misery, and playfulness in it! Only a handful of pianists play it! I personally think its harder than most concertos, just by looking at the score it has amazingly hard rhythms that needs to be synchronized with the orchestra. it has a lot of hard and fast chords to be played in time, but at the same time played with delicate rubato. He was a GENIUS to write this.

  • @Martel211996 It is my favorite too! Perhaps it is "too" beautiful that one is afraid for it?

  • @xaxvuna Nonsense what you say! Who said that that Scriabin was trying to repeat Chopin? Did you ever listen more of Scriabin's music than just 2 or 3 pieces? It is true; no one can say Scriabin is better than Chopin and no one does! And likewise, no can say Chopin is better than Scriabin, because it wouldn't be true!

read with more attention and you will found who said that.

i study in tbilisi conservatory so i have listened(also played) more than 2 pieces of scriabin..

  • @xaxvuna What should I read with more attention to find out what?

Congratulations that you study in Tblisi, but what that has to do with Scriabin? You played 2 pieces of Scriabin :0, still many to go!

  • i'm gonna make some enemies but i believe Scriabin is one of the best composers of his era. his heart manages to seep in with the ink every performance i've heard of his. everything is so human and lyrical. i always sounds like an explaination of something when i hear his music, which makes me as a listener, very empathetic and responsive to his phrasings :)

  • @xaxvuna Scriabin is the one who can't be repeated. He is uniquely magnificent.

  • is this picture moving?

  • One of the best composers, accepté.

  • Scriabin is underperformed. More pianists should replace their Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff concertos with this masterpiece for their next debut.

  • ~♥~how exquisite! thank you so much my dear friend for creating & sharing :D~♥~

  • There is no doubt anymore; Scriabin is God.

  • this reminds me of Moszkowski's Piano Concerto - nothing unexpected, since they lived in almost the same time

  • ...I was hoping listening to this would help me understand the Chopin F minor concerto, so I got loaded and listened to this, like with real dedication, and sometimes was getting a real illusion that I was, like, GETTING IT...but in the end, no, it did not work...will have to try something stronger...
