  • Watching the film Gone with the Wind alone, I could never quite understand why Leslie Howard was such a renown actor. I thought his performance was cheese and over the top. Well, now I know why. Good acting in a good film.

  • Wonderful film and play. Thank you for posting.

  • Thanks for posting this. Although "My Fair Lady" is a good movie too, it's too bad this version was so overshadowed by it. Dame Wendy Hiller and Leslie Howard are much more convincing as the leads here - Wendy looks exotic (like she could be "from the gutter") instead of conventionally pretty, and Leslie is more attractive than Rex Harrison, making the love story more believable. "Freddy" also comes off as a proper dope here, whereas in "My Fair Lady" he's downright debonair.

  • Thanks!
