  • Excellent tutorial, David. I've had to buy Index now to go with Scrivener. Wonderful tools, both of them. Many thanks for such a clear and easy to understand tutorial.

  • @mikejeck1 Thank you Mike!

    Cheers, David.

  • Quick question, if we have a project in process so some of the files already have text (say, a few chapters are written and then you hit a snag and realize you need to add/move or otherwise reoutline the story) what happens to the already written text if we wish to send the entire project to Index Card? Will the cards be imported back to scrivener properly rearranged and attached to the right document, or is this sync only to be used with index cards with no scenes written on them.

  • @KalaynaPrice Apologies for the late reply Kalayna. You have probably figured this out for yourself already, but you can synchronise between the applications whenever you wish, with index cards populated with a synopses or not.

    All the best, David.

  • Sync question: only synopsis and title synced but not scrivenings/text, which limits things considerably. Advice?

  • @StL1960 Hello. Index Card's cards contain titles and synopses. It is essentially an outlining app. Scrivener syncs the synopses and titles of documents with Index Card so that you can outline while you're on the go. You could use Index Card for outlining and something like PlainText for writing, if you wanted. If we were to sync main text into the Index Card app, where would it go? I know there is a notes section on the back of each card, but that is really restrictive.

    All the best, David.

  • Sure its got balls, but can you even write?

  • @David. The problem in SCR & Index Card (IC) working together is this. In SCR, the compiled document includes Scrivenings & not Synopsis, but in IC, the compiled document includes Synopsis & not Notes. So, the compiled docs on the two can't match when Synopses are synced. How about this? If Scrivenings-SCR were to Sync to Synopsis-IC and Synopsis-SCR to Notes-IC, the syncing would be perfect. It may cause a little confusion for novice users of both SCR & IC, but a brief note should clarify.
