I have worked for Genzyme in this building for the past 4 years and love it. It is a beautiful and very comfortable building to work in. Everyone I work with loves it.
Lot of good ideas in there, I particularly like the insulating area of the walkway. Air is a good insulator, and for homes it's good to use the thermal mass of bricks, wood etc. to overcome the day/night temperature fluctuation. Definitely many improvements that simply haven't found their way to wider usage.
I went there for my Global Warming class (Umass Boston) hehe - I didnt get to see the offices, but the building is so nice - it feels like you are in a mall. And we dont get strong storms here - so the glass doesnt have that effect. I am actually writting a case analysis about how natural light improves people's productivity (they take less days off, and do more work). So I guess people like all the glass windows + natural light.
great strategy .. thanks for posting .. =)

I use to work for Genzyme..that building is hideous on the outside. It looks unfinshed. Most people who work there hate the building.

That's great, where did you get the info? Also, do you think that by having smaller offices and all glass would make people feel less secure?
