Gary Payton had 31 points, 13 assists, and 8 rebounds to lead the Sonics. It was not enough to overcome 39 points from Shaq and 32 points from eddie jones. The Lakers pounded the Sonics in the paint and pulled away early in the 4th quarter. With the loss, the Sonics fell into a 3-1 hole and eventually went on to lose game 5 at home and the series. With Vin Baker struggling, and the Sonics bench coming up empty, Gary Payton was the facilitator pumping life into the Seattle Offense. Seattle was manhandled the whole series, this game was their last chance of making it an interesting series.
