The armies of Singapore and Indonesia have successfully concluded the 20th exercise in the SAFKAR INDOPURA series of bilateral army exercises. Chief of Army, Major-General Neo Kian Hong, and Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD), General Agustadi Sasongko Purnomo, officiated at the closing ceremony this morning in Medan, Sumatra.

A total of 198 personnel from 2nd Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment and Headquarters 3rd Singapore Infantry Brigade joined 400 personnel from 100 RAIDER Battalion/KODAM I and the 13th Infantry Brigade of the Strategic Reserve Command, TNI-AD, in the exercise. In addition, army engineering and medical personnel from Singapore and Indonesia carried out socio-civic activities, such as repairing roads and providing medical and dental services to the local community.

The successful conclusion of the 20th Exercise SAFKAR INDOPURA is testament to the excellent relations between the armies of Singapore and Indonesia. Besides bilateral exercises, the two armies also send their officers to attend each other's military courses. For example, Singapore regularly sends its army officers to attend the TNI-AD Command and Staff College (SESKOAD) and the TNI Tri-Service Command and Staff College (SESKO-TNI). The TNI-AD regularly sends its officers to attend the Singapore Armed Forces' Command and Staff College, as well as the Masters programmes at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

The friendships and professional bonds that have developed between the soldiers from the two armies have been instrumental in enabling both sides to work together in times of need. The successful joint humanitarian relief operations following the tsunami in Aceh in 2004 and the earthquake in Yogyakarta in 2006 are examples of bilateral defence cooperation between the two armies.

  • I am serving with the Indonesian Marines for quite some time now. It is nice to see our neighbooring countries come and trained with us. There is lots of knowledge that we could share with one another. And those Indonesians who are worried about joint-excercises, let me assure you that it will not be in the best interest of any ASEAN countries to go to war. Both the SAF and TNI does not currently uphold any offensive doctrine.

  • hey guys i'm so happy to see indonesian and singaporeans army keep smiling together they were all friends so keep moving forwards guys.

  • @SuperBDSP ga marah.. masalahnya bukan gw ga suka kostrad

masalahnya ini kostrad ga make helm ataupun body armour.. malu aja liatnya --'

  • @TheAnak74 hehehe...ente marah tah? nyante aja ! kita kan sama2 bernaung dibawah bendera gula kelapa(merah putih). cuman ane sayang ama komen pertama ente yang menurut gue lebih milih sat 81gultor. jujur gue ga ada maksud buat ngebandingin mana yg lebih baik diantara tiap2 kesatuan gue cuman ngebela aja coz sodara gw ada yg dines di kostrad juga...,jd harap maklum

  • @SuperBDSP maniac pb biji mane, ane bukan maniac pb.

emang kalo orang ngomong body armours / helmets berarti maniac pb ye bung ?

i think it was wrong, very wrong.. gw airsoftguner,so kata kata body armour, vest, helm,bb's,dll itu biasa..

    bukan berarti maniak pb o_0

  • @TheAnak74 hahaha..,looks like you kind of Point Blank maniac dude. yeah.. 81 units fights against terror with high risk that maybe no need longer time to eliminate so that's why they always fully armoured in every drills. but if we want to sweep stupid malaysian once again what would you choice? sat 81 gultor or our TNI with all its component? try searching this picture with google, like JamboAyeMay2003 or Rupanpur - 9 you will see how it looks our TNI with fully armour

  • @SuperBDSP but kostrad isnt using any body armours / helmets...

whats wrong o_0 so better sat-81 for a fully armour guys

  • @TheAnak74 if i can say Kostrad is Special Forces with numerous soldier and different employment for a different warfare

  • @TheAnak74 maybe KOSTRAD is not an anti terror unit, but at least they have the same ability as KOPASSUS. in the begining kostrad was formed based on some of military operation in west papua. TNI need a unit with fast deployment in large scale(kopassus can't do that with their amount). just because lot of mission did very well by kopassus in Timor timor then they adopted the same training from kopassus. need to you know RAIDER from kostrad was special unit and they have anti terror unit too

  • *just lulz

  • Err, correction. They sent 2SIR in, not 1SIR. I think you should read up more.. Hey, I'm saying.

  • why kostrad ? why not kopassus Sat-81 ?

kostrad isnt anti terror units o_0 and SAF IS an anti terror units ?

    correct me if im wrong
