  • This is a real thing. When the song produced, everyone heard of this one with Geisha "KATSUTARO" This record was sold like hot cakes. We all loved it, there were few "ONDO"s came after this but none was good as Tokyo Ondo. I really don't know anything about this has something to do with Japanese Ball-Clubs.

  • はんなりしちゃう(^3^)

  • @chatmonchyonna Thank you for the information. A traditional song always has many singers interpreting it, so it is always good to know who is the one who sings a particularly good version. I indeed still want the translation of the song, if you can do me this great favor. I enjoyed the song without understanding the lyrics, but it is always good to know exactly what we are listening at. I hope 2011 has started well for you.

  • @meliante2 the artist is Kouta Katsutarou and I can try and translate it if you still want me to?

  • @meliante2 that's good. It sounds funny at first but if you listen to Japanese music for a long time it sounds normal. But I assume you have been listening to Japanese music for a while. I am glad you like real Japanese music too. Japanese lullabies are lovely too :D

  • @kannon808 Thanks a lot for the information! I did not know what was the thing with the word "so re". It is very common in Ondo music. Almost every Ondo I find has the word sung over and over again. So "so re" and "yoiyoi" are like interjections of the Japanese language? I would love to see the rest of the lyrics for this song. I found a video showing this song and a man doing the bon dance. The video is here in youtube and goes by the title of 東京音頭の踊り方。I'd like to make a subbed version of it.

  • @meliante2

The lyrics are just entertaining, to go with the ondo type of bon odori music.

    Something like,

If you are going to dance, then then dance the Tokyo Ondo

    In the capital of flowers,

Right in the middle of the capital (miyako) of flowers (hana)

The rest are classic folk music accents, such as "haa", or "yoiyoi" or "so re"
