Designflaws and leaking fuel tanks caused many deadly problems especially in the Nieuport 28. American volunteers created the LaFayette-squadron and for lack of better planes they bravely flew the Nieuport 28 on many reconnaisance flights.
Things turned bad from 1915, when the planes were armed with maschineguns,
and bad went to worse later in 1915, when the germans Fokker Eindecker had the gun syncronized with the propeller and litterally shot the allied planes out af the sky. The true fighter aircraft was now a reality.

  • I guess they didn't do much in damage control or in crash investigation.

  • This is really foolish to keep a design flaw, considering excluding it would have no significant change in outward appearance, and may help 100% preserving all the immense amount of work they put into building the plane from the first fool who takes it up and around the block. If all it takes is some extra glue and a few more tacks to save a plane and a pilots life, they should of done it.
