  • i have a suggestion.......i'm from mexican descent and we eat these a lot. basically, do everything you said.....but add LEMON juice.

also if you can find this seasoning called "tajin" then use that. jicama, tajin and lemon juice FOR THE WIN!

  • Thanks for the info!

  • @thatoneguyonline i see this is a few years old..but just wanted to tell ya that i worked in a deli at a food co-op and we made a raw jicama salad..i forget everything that was added to it. but the main thing that was diced very fine and tossed with it was cilantro. and i gotta tell u that the jicama and the cilantro were GREAT together!!...real crisp clean flavor...and like lambyii said...lemon juice for sure.

  • @ggallinsblood Thanks for the info! I'll have to try that.

  • biggest knife i've ever seen!

  • if their not fried they should be called raws

  • I like to add jicama in small pieces to fruit salad after coating it with lime juice. It picks up flavors from grapes cut in half and pineapple really well.

  • @ggallinsblood i love your name ;p

  • all of the other cooking people have pretty jicamas lol he has an ugly real jicama

  • @mariaperiwinkle powdered chile,,,google lucas candy :)

  • in the Philippines, we eat it raw and just sprinkle salt over it or bagoong (bah-goh-ong) it's fermented shrimp paste.. ^^

  • we this in our country (Philippines) too.. we call it "Singkamas" (SING-kah-mas).. back in the old days when the Spaniards colonized our country, they saw this root crop and recognized it and asked the locals for it.. the locals didn't even know they could be eaten.. then the Spaniards asked for five more (cinco mas) hence the term "singkamas" because they thought it was its name.. ^_^
