This is a brilliant and rather racy S&M themed Gothic terror romance movie that stands alone in the annals of modern film. Hard to believe it was even released at all given its combination of sex and violence. A histprically significant picture worth seeing for fans and studying for budding auteurs.

the lighting and color in Bava's films gives them a surreal quality. He made some great movies.
