Dropping the clutch saves it? I disagree. Dropping it is worse than loading the engine properly as you did in the video. Smooth is good!

I am the same, size 14 I do barefoot unless I have tight converses on.
-
Someone said that they ride the clutch, and just so they know, that's unsafe and illegal.
-
I drive a stick very differently, I ride the clutch, I start the vehicle in gear with my foot completely on the clutch than I put it in the desired gear, when I come to a stop I step on the clutch completely then the brake then shift to either 1st or second gear ( if it looks like I will be able to go without stopping I shift to 2nd if it looks like I will have to come to a complete stop then I put it in 1st ). Going up hill I step on the clutch and gas at the same time ( more gas than clutch ).

Okay, I want to know what the Trip-meter... and Odomoter display.... does it show miles to empty?.... And also how much did you put down on your Soul?

@aaidenkardashian
You can have up to 2 trips going at once, Trip A and Trip B, they go simultaneously. And there is no Miles to Empty on the 2010, I put over $10K down at the time of purchase.

Do you find it easier to drive manual without flip flops?

@Pedalfan
No, I wear size 13 so they are too clumsy. I'd rather do barefoot.

The reason why it jerks when you downshift is because the transmission and engine speed is different, its normal though, all it means is you downshifted at the wrong speed. Rule of thumb for driving manual transmission is remember, its the brakes job to slow the car down not the transmission or the engine. You will expand the life of your clutch and tranny if you do less downshifting :D

I figured as much. Also I usually 90% of the time use neutral to slow down. We have the same mindset. Brakes are cheaper to replace then a clutch.
