So under your reading of the Bible a loving, compassionate, and just God sentenced all of the Native Americans to everlasting punishment because they had never heard of Jesus or the Christian version of God?

In his letter to the Romans paul says the wages of sin is death. To believe in an eternal place of suffering for sinners would imply that the wages of sin are actually eternal life. Most of the phrases incorporating the word "hell" in the Bible translate from "sheol" or "hades" each meaning grave. Interestingly, this same wording is often used in the Bible to refer to resting place of virtuous Biblical figures. There isn't even a clear mentioning of an afterlife in the Old Testament.
