Capture card = http://www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html

Voice recording software = http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Monitor = http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/871735/ViewSonic-VX2260wm-22-Widescreen...

I don't know where my component to VGA cable came from.

ABOUT THE HD PVR:
Fantastic product. $250 bucks though. It has composite and component inputs as well as the normal audio and even optical for surround sound. (it loops even "loops" the optical!) The software included is a ton smaller than Pinnacle studio's recording software. It auto detects format and offers advanced options. If you're going to buy the capture card, then buy it off of the Hauppauge website. They carry better updated models.

ABOUT THE MONITOR:
Fantastic for gaming, especially if you have an Xbox with an HDMI output. Full 1080p (1920x1080 resolution) and 2ms response time. Cheap looking stand, bad speakers, and annoying blue light (just put duct tape over it) are the only things bad about this beast.

  • I have the same monitor as you Dave, but I am used to playing with an HDMI cable. Will it be too awkward for me to play on 480p? I mean, will it affect my ability to play just as good as I do in 1080p? Playing in 720p with a VGA cable is of course not an option, as you get those weird colors.

  • @EirikYeah HDMI is the best for this monitor. I only play in 480p so I can capture live.
